SAC 105: Drug Abuse, Sexuality, AIDS & Domestic Violence
One of the areas of life most devastated by substance abuse is the ability to establish and maintain close relationships and to enjoy a healthy sexuality. In this course, you will learn why the reestablishment of friendships, intimacy, and healthy sexuality is critical to recovery. You will recognize the stages of psychosexual developments in clients prior to, during, and after addiction in order to plan treatment more effectively. You will understand the relationship between substance abuse and AIDS and domestic violence. You will examine these critical issues:
* Connection between substance abuse, intimacy, and sexuality.
* Psychosexual developmental stages.
* Effects of drugs on relationships and sexual functioning.
* Sexual dysfunction before, during, and after addiction.
* Methods of recovering healthy sexuality.
* Relationship of substance abuse to AIDS and to domestic violence.
* Effective methods to educate clients.
